December 7th: Terri Thal will join us for our next meeting to discuss her 2023 book My Greenwich Village: Dave, Bob, and Me!

Our next meeting is Sunday, December 7th, at 2 pm Eastern (US) time to discuss Terri Thal’s 2023 book, My Greenwich Village: Dave, Bob, and Me. The meeting link will go out in the hours before the meeting. Terri was married to Dave Van Ronk—and she took on the job of helping him get bookings. Bob Dylan arrived in New York in January, 1961, and Terri eventually began helping Bob as his first manager. She made an early recording of Bob to help her promote him to the owners of folk clubs. Terri also was a friend of Suze Rotolo, Bob’s first serious girl friend in New York. Suze also wrote a memoir of those years: A Freewheelin’ Time, a book that became the very first book of the Bob Dylan Book Club in August 2023. Dave Van Ronk also wrote a memoir, The Mayor of McDougal Street, published after his death through the efforts of Elijah Wald (author of Dylan Goes Electric). Two other important, eye witness books are: Peter McKenzie’s Bob Dylan, On a Couch and Fifty Cents a Day, the December Bob Dylan Book Club-Book-of-the-Month for December 2023 (Peter was a 15 year old when Dylan sayed frequently at the McKenzie family apartment) and Bob Dylan’s own Chronicles Volume One.
